I should really go to bed but as I was about to log off I noticed that...

THIS IS MY 50TH BLOG POST!!

I actually cannot believe that I've managed to keep blogging for the last 4 months, I've honestly become almost addicted.
I didn't really want to blog in the beginning but now I'm so happy that I've reached 50 posts... I won't be stopping anytime soon. :)

Another good thing about tomorrow is that I'm going to help paint the backdrop for our school's production of The Sound of Music unce unce unce.
So yes, I'm super de duper buzzing to return to my educational institution.
This is a ground breaking moment.

Work Experience the Final Day :(

I'm about to cry. Work Experience is well and truly over :'( The week been so amazing and unforgettable and I got to meet so many new people (I don't care that this is turning into a soppy sob story! I have feelings, ok?)

On our last day we headed into Dublin City to Garda Headquarters, Harcourt Sq. First thing we did was see where all the emergency calls are taken and how the system works. Then we were shown into a dark room that had a zillion TVs that had surveillance on them. It was so freaking cool! ^_^. The can access so much (like where callers are from and camera footage) by just typing in a few things.
Down the stairs to Community Relations/Community Policing (sure, whatever floats your boat). This is basically the contact that members of an Garda Síochána have with the public. For example; neighbourhood watch, juvenile liaison officers, road safety awareness etc. A group of Gardaí broke a world record and raised over 30, 000 euro by wake boarding over to Fishguard, UK from Ireland. For the craic, after the presentation we watched a video they had made during their training and it was hilarious. (Only the Gardaí would attempt to play hurling whilst wake boarding).
Then the BEST part... Criminal Assets Bureau (C.A.B). This is the unit that seizes criminal's possessions. There was a presentation showing some of the goods they had seized and you would not believe how much money that some criminals were making. The they put 8 watches out on the table and we had to guess it they were real or fake. I got 6 right which was better than most people !! I was the only person who said that the gold, diamond encrusted Rolex was real and of course I was right. By the way, it was worth 80, 000 euro. Now that is the most valuable thing I've ever held in my hands.

At the end we were presented with certificates for completing the placement at Blanchardstown Garda Station and we got some Garda pens and CAB pencils it was pretty gooooood. :)
Again, I want to thank absolutely everyone at the station for giving me an unforgettable week and I will be forever grateful for what I have learned from my Work Experience. :)

And I have some new friends too. Gosh, I'm so like totes popular.

I WOULD NEVER LIE

A HA!
Proof I was not lying when I said that the GASU uniform's had swag!!

Look at those LEATHER JACKETS!! How many people wear leather jackets to work? C'mon!!
                                                                            (Source)
Awwwwww Yeeeeaaaaah
I'm so smug now ^_^

Work Experience Day 4

The forth day of my Work Experience was definitely one of the best! :)
Started today off with a trip to the Garda Air Support Unit in Baldonnel (a.k.a. middle of the countryside). It was so unbelievable windy I was almost blown away. Had a quick presentation about the GASU and saw some footage that the cameras on the helicopters captured. My personal opinion: the GASU uniform have swag. I'm not even kidding. They wear like a navy jumpsuit with the word Garda on it and a leather jacket. A leather jacket!! I would work in that unit just so I could look that fly. (Do you get it? Fly...Helicopters...Positive adjective...Air Support Unit....Garda humour, I apologise). But, thats just what I think seeing as it IS maa blog.
Then, off we went to the Garda Depot in the Phoenix Park, Dublin. The Depot is where the Commissioner works, where evidence is kept, where the forensic labs are etc etc. In there, first we went to the forensic unit and had to use this really fancy microscope to see if two bullets had come from the same gun. Next, down to the basement we went which is where all the firearms are kept. OH YEAH. We were shown different types of guns like revolvers, pistols and AK47's. booyakasha. Aaaaand we got to hold them. I felt like such a boss. But, let me tell you, guns weigh an absolute ton!! Finally, we were given a presentation on the Garda Reserve which is a unit in which members of the public can become volunteer Gardaí. Obviously, you get training but their only jobs would be walking the beat and working at big events like sports matches. I'm actually seriously interested in definitely joining the Garda Reserve in the future. DEFO.

And now, there is only one day remaining :'(

Work Experience Day 3

Well day 3 of Work Experience has passed and it did not start off well. I had to wake up at 7!! Not a good time for a bed-lover like me -_- We were leaving for the Garda College in Templemore, Tipperary at half eight so I wasn't a very happy (or energised for that matter) bunny.
After racing to get good seats on the bus we headed off on the 2 hour journey. When we got there we were given a tour of the entire college. Its actually a reeeaaally nice college and it was so much bigger than I thought. The rooms that the student Gardaí accommodate are nice, theres a huge pool and the food is ...well...food <3 Garda Sharkey told us about the phases in becoming a Garda and we took a  look at some of the classrooms and lecture rooms. Then we did a shortened down version of the fitness test. It was grand to be honest. I say I would have passed the real thing ;) (cocky much?). There was a motor bike course going on when we were down there so the guy who was running it gave us a really quick presentation about it. To do the course you don't need to have any experience with motor bikes! *fist pump* . And theres also a tiny museum with a few Garda memorabilia in it so we took a look around there ourselves.

Joining An Garda Síochána when I'm older is looking more appealing with everyday of this Work Experience ooooooooooooooooooh :P

Anyways, still 2 days left to go :)
I DON'T WANT IT TO END.

                                                       Colaiste an Garda Síochána, Templemore.

Work Experience Day 2

Okilly Dokilly, finished Day 2 of Work Experience at Blanchardstown Garda Station and it was another amazing day ^_^
It didn't start till 1.30 pm cause we would be finishing really late so I had a delectable lie in! <3 :) ugh yeah. So anyways, got on the bus at 1.30, had the usually bus bant with my fellow TYs on Work Experience then arrived at the Garda Museum right beside Dublin Castle in the city centre. I had heard about the museum but I was actually surprised by how big it was and by how much artefacts were in it! It was spread over 3 floors and let me tell you, those spiral staircases were HELL. But the museum was really interesting. Some of the old uniforms made me roflol. We were also given sheets that had a fact file about a particular person, significant to the history of An Garda Síochána, on them and we had to read aloud about the person we were. I was Dr. Herman Goertz, a German spy during the War of Independence in Ireland. woo hoo. ICH LIEBE DICH. Then lunch :P
Back on the bus and off to RTÉ studios in Donnybrook. It was soooo amazing :o RTÉ is so cool inside :D I was tripping, bro. We were shown the studio where The Late Late Show, The Frontline and (more importantly to us) Crimecall is made. Aaaaaaand Grainne Seoige waved at me!! She waved at me, people!! Waved!! At me!! Apologies, but I personally feel very privileged. We were told how Crimecall asks the public to help solve crimes and how the set works by one of the producers of the show. We had a few minutes left afterward so we walked over to the outside set where Fair City is filmed.
And then, unfortunately it was home (after some more bus banter)

Bringing Day 2 of my Work Experience to a close.
And I'm once again, gagging for a bit more (unce).

Work Experience Day 1

Could it be? A post title that actually describes what the forthcoming post will entail? A Sarah Smarties first, I do believe.
Moving on, I have completed my first day of this week's Work Experience :) It was so much fun. See, unlike last week, theres a whole group of TYs from other schools doing Work Experience at Blanchardstown Garda Station too. (well we weren't in the station too much :L)
First we had a introduction to what we were going to be doing for the week and I'm so freaking EXCIREEH (excited)!! But, I won't say anymore about what we're going to be doing *suspense*. The slide show also included information on the areas in An Garda Síochána, the ranks etc. But sure, I know all that hunnay!
We had a quick break then went to a boardroom in the station and a couple of Gardaí from the drugs unit showed us a slide show of all the drugs, the effects and pictures of seizures they had done. Also, there was all the drugs and drug paraphernalia on the table in the room so we had a good gander at them. The pictures that they had of, for example, a crystal meth addict were revolting >:P
Then a quick presentation on taking fingerprints and CSI (oh yeah baby... oh yeah) Just need to get a pair of blue tinted shades. (click ;o)
Then off in a bus to Blanchardstown District Court. There wasn't like a real court case going on, just loads of random small convictions. And Mondays are the days where all the people who don't speak english are in court cause all the interpreters come in. And because there was only small convictions there was no jury so we sat where the jury sit!! :D It was really confusing at the start but after awhile I found it really interesting.
Then back on the bus and of to the Garda Mounted Unit. These are the Gardaí who are on the horses, basically. It's in Áras an Uachtaráin which is the president of Ireland's -Michael D. Higgins- gaff! unce. The horses we're absolutely gorgeous <3 They're almost all grey and are Irish Draught Horses, all male (castrated lol) and all HUGE. The biggest is Lír (they're also all named after Irish mythical characters) and he is the biggest horse I've ever seen in ma liofe. He's like a giant - you should have heard the sound his hoofs were making :o We were shown all the horses and then around the stables. Didn't get to see Dobby Michael D. Higgins though :(
Then back to the station and home :)
Such a good start to the week, looking forward to the rest of it :D BOO YAH

adios

*moment of realisation*

Ok so after my suuuuuper long post about Work Experience I realised (cue moment of realisation) that it took way too long to write and was way too long for anyone to be interested in reading it.
So for next week's Work Experience, I'm going to try and do daily posts.
That way it will be so much easier to keep track of everything I do and each post won't be the length of the bible!
waaaaheeeeey

Have you prepared yourself?

"Prepared myself for what?" you might ask. Have you prepared yourself for my humongous blog post about Work Experience, OF COURSE.
Ready? Set. Go!

I did my Work Experience at Blanchardstown Garda Station, Dublin and I have to say, I had such a good time there! I was introduced to so many people (so many hands to shake!) who were all really nice and then shown around the station. One of the first big jobs I had to do was help Garda Keith and Garda Alex of the Community Policing unit in the Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown. It was open day at the college and so the Gardaí had a stand in the hall along with other colleges such as Trinity, Dublin City University (DCU) etc. It was Keith and Alex's job to promote joining an Garda Síochána and answer questions. There was so much people coming up it was unreal. I listened to the answers the Keith and Alex were giving so in time, I was answering peoples queries too!! (very proud of myself) So, if you have any questions on joining an Garda Síochána, feel free to ask me ;) Keith and Alex were so friendly and absolutely hilarious! One thing that I learned from my Work Experience would be that the Gardaí are a bant and a half - whether you deem that to be a beneficial lesson is up to you.
Another big experience I had was sitting in on a daily briefing on Wednesday. It is when the Inspectors of the Station sit the other Gardaí - this includes people from the Community Policing unit, Drugs unit, etc.-down and tell everyone what needs to be done, reviews on performance, information on e.g stolen vehicles and other things along the lines of that. Inspector Kelly and Inspector Bergin are the Inspectors in Blanchardstown and the Superintendent of Blanchardstown, Superintendent Clavin, also sits in on the briefings. Sometimes, luckily on that particular Wednesday, the Chief Superintendent of the K District (Blanchardstown, Cabra and Finglas) - Chief Superintedent Coburn, sits in too. Overall, the Inspectors are the ones who spear head the briefings. I found it really interesting to listen to the jobs everyone was allocated with and to hear about the crimes that happened/were solved. Blanchardstown is up there with the busiest stations in Ireland so there is always a lot going on. I know, I know... there was a lot of big words in the last few lines but hopefully things get neater from here on in.
One of the BEST parts of my time in the station was working with the Drugs unit!! These people are my idols!! They were telling me all these stories about "drug busts" and how the criminals make the drugs it was so interesting I just sat there awestruck. Might I add that the Drugs unit is probably the most dangerous area to be in in an Garda Síochána. When they find drugs they seize it, hold it in the office in the station, then send it to the Depot to be tested. They had some drugs in the office which they were about to send to the Depot in sealed bags with the Garda crest on them so they showed me them. I held €70,00 worth of cocaine my hands people!!! In MY hands! (well it was in a bag but still!) It was such a crazy experience :o Then I got to hold one of the guy's guns (unloaded obviously) but I still mentally pretended to shoot and made PEW PEW sounds inside my head....ahem. Also, I got to try on a bulletproof vest. I will never forget my time with the Drug's unit to say the least.
I also attended a few presentations held by the Gardaí. For example, I went to a meeting for the owners of the shops in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre about security, fire hazards etc. (it was held because we're coming up to Christmas) Here, I met the Parish Priest and all I can say is ... What. A. Man. I sat beside him for the presentation and had a grand old chat. He is possibly the coolest priest ever! He has a Blackberry! A BLACKBERRY! Anyways, another presentation I attended was one for local licensed (as in, permitted to sell alcohol) businesses - pubs, restaurants, so on, so forth. I had to help set up the projector, the posters and then afterward I cleaned up the room. There was a slide show on the laws and legislations and then another on crime prevention. Again, Chief Superintendent Moore, Superintendent Clavin and many other Inspectors, Detective Inspectors and Sergeants attended. I actually learned a lot from those slide shows. And, I was also introduced to the Chief Superintendent so I felt really important - sad, I know.
Of course I did small jobs like filing, printing, stamping forms, organising work and random other simple jobs but I was never bored. Everything was so new to me that I guess I never lost interest.

Well there you go. The post you've all been waiting for - well, maaaybe not.
I have to say, I have gained soooo much from my Work Experience. I have learned that I can cope really well in sticky situations, that I have no problem introducing myself and that I can learn quickly. I'm also happy because it turns out, I'm not the worst at public speaking :D
I'm doing another week of Work Experience next week which I'm so excited for!! ^.^

I want to thank everyone at Blanchardstown Garda Síochána so, so much for making me feel welcome and for giving me one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Oh, and hope you liked the lemon cheesecake I baked for you ;)

Finally, the end of the longest posts in the history of Sarah Smarties.

C'est tout pour le instant!  x

*well, isn't this post cheesier than usual...but, who doesn't love cheese?*

But, I'm in the middle of my Work Experience at Blanchardstown Garda Station so I haven't had much time to blog cause I'm waiting till I completely finish the work experience and then I'm gonna write one HUMONGOUS blog post aaaaaall about it so be prepared ...

Guess who's back (back), back again (again)

^bitta Eminem to get us rolling ;)

Riiiiight so, it's been so long since I blogged :O
We had a week off school for mid-term but now its time to get back into the school routine. :(
Even though I spent so much time over mid-term doing school work (damn you Geography) I barely even got a break! But, THANK GOD, I can finally say I'm finished that dreadful Geography project. It has been going on for ages!! Doing it was possibly my least favourite part of TY so far. There was so much work involved and our teacher taking a month off our deadline definitely didn't help matters -_- But it's done and dusted now and I never wanna think about it again!

Tuesday, 25 October 2011

It was a daaarlin' day... a daaarlin' day

I'm haven't blogged in ages D: nooooo
I do believe its time for a much needed blog :)

Last Wednesday, 19th October, all of TY went into town (Dublin) for the whole day. Might I add it was one of the best things in TY so far :)
After another fun bus trip (buzzin wih evry1), Fodla went to the National Library first. It was basically a room with a lot of touch screens and posters with information on them - if it was the National Library, where the books? o.O We also had a worksheet to do -_- FUUUN
Next, was the National History  Museum ... 5 steps away. This was sooo good :D Spent the time sitting in fireplaces, gagging at Bog Bodies and pretending to wear torcs (celtic necklaces) Strangely, I wanna go there again. Me and Fiona also spent our time browsing the gift store for farmer hats, kids toys and crosses. Back into the point about bog bodies - yes they were disgusting but it was so weird and yet amazing that their hair was in perfect condition!! :o
Lastly, we went to a W. B. Yeats exhibition, which I suppose was good... it was definitely interesting seeing as I studied Yeats for my Junior Certificate. :)

Then LUNCHTIME :D :D and a trip to Mc Donalds :P onomnomnomnom <3
I got chocolate milkshake, double cheeseburger, 6 chicken nuggets, fries and twisty fries ... heaven

After, it was time for the reason we came to town - Sean O'Casey's 'Juno and the Paycock'.
It was AMAZING! I've never been to a proper play (Wicked doesn't count) but I'm seriously considering going to more soooooon! The set was so realistic and there was so much attention to detail - they cooked real sausages on stage and the audience could smell them!!!! Not to mention the acting - my favourite actors were Jerry, Mrs Madigan and of course ... Johnny <3 played by the swoon inducing Ronan Rafferty

All in all, it was such a good day :D and theres some pretty entertaining pictures to go with it ;)

UM YEAH BYE.

Getting the "Lucozade Shakes" and Scrambled Eggs

Ok, this is gonna be my last post in relation to Blog Action Day.
I'm finally going to try and be serious... lets see how this goes.

See the whole point of the topic of Food for Blog  Action Day is to raise awareness on how people in the developed world take the food we eat for granted. I know I do! So last year I did a 24 hr fast to see what its like for people less fortunate than me.
You're advised to go from breakfast to breakfast but being the wild child that I am, I went from dinner to dinner. It started out ok but then lunchtime in school came and it was hell! Everyone around me was eating something and I was just sitting there twiddling my thumbs. I felt so lighheaded and cranky in the last few classes of school and my stomach felt so strange being so empty. I drank 2 lucozades (energy drink) because I honestly thought I was going to keel over :o Then about an hour later I got what I like to call the "Lucozade Shakes". My hands and legs were shaking so much that I had to sit down and stop writing the homework I was doing! It was the weirdest and also the scariest feeling ever but I still had 3 hours left to do.
The scrambled eggs and toast I had when the fast was over was possibly the best meal I've ever had!!

It was strange to see the effect that no food had on my body after only 24 hours of  not eating. It made me think of how tough it must be for those people in the developing world who have to go days without food!

I would definitely recommend everybody to do a 24hr fast at some point in their life cause it really opens your eyes to a lifestyle complete different than what you'd be used to and it also makes you realise that you should be grateful of what you've been giving :)

I present to you... the stuff of my dreams...

WARNING: you are about to get an extreme crave for the amaaaazing food mentioned below - be prepared.

The official list of Sarah Smarties' favourite foods:

  1. Chocolate (preferably Cadbury's)....drool
  2. Chicken
  3. Steak
  4. Sausages (^^^I could never be a vegetarian :/ )
  5. Mc Donalds Double Cheeseburger - the only reason worth living
  6. Mc Donalds Ice-cream
  7. Mc Donalds Chicken Nuggets
  8. Milano's Pizza - the BEST pizza known to mankind
  9. Milano's Gelatto (better than ice-cream ok?)
  10. Gino's Gelatto as well :P
  11. Burger King Steakhouse Burger - a heart attack in every bite
  12. Potatoes!! Call me typically irish but any form of potato (chips, roast, mashed) just completes me...
  13. Tea ;)
  14. Crisps - Mighty Munch, Skips, Doritos Chilli Heatwave, Walkers Prawn Cocktail and many more
  15. NUTELLA
  16. Stuffing (like the Christmas kind)
  17. Apples....this is the first healthy thing mentioned :/
  18. Chicken Wings
  19. Ham in a breadroll :D
  20. Jellies
I promised myself to limit the list to 20 things but really it could go on forever.
Well, as pointless as that was, you now know a bit more about me and you will more than likely like at least one of the foods above so then we can be besto :D :D
This post was in response to Blog Action Day :)

Murphy's Law

Of course on Blog Action Day my internet decides to be mean and basically give up on me. UGH!
A lot of people came up to me today asking whether I had blogged or not seeing as all I do is blog :o (cool person right thuuur) So I guess this is my post begging my blog to forgive me for neglecting it on the most important day of its life :'( I'm sorry blog *hug it out*
Anyways... the topic of Blog Action Day is Food.  omnomnomnomnomnomnomnomnomnom
(anyone who knows me will know this isn't gonna be hard for me)

Hopefully that it is still the 16th October in some part of the World... PLEEEEZ

Here it goes :)

EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!!

Our amazing dance moves and incredible stunts ;) Proud to be a Fódlian!
Sorry about the misspelling of Fódla in the title of the video... *cough* Caitriona *cough*

HAS HELL FROZEN OVER??

I cannot believe I'm saying this but I'm actually grateful for going to St. Wolstan's :O whaaaaaa??

The reason behind this sudden outburst of love toward my educational institution is that compared to other schools, its so SAFE :o
Ok, that is a bit exaggerated but in Religion we watch "Educating Essex" on 4od and it completely shocked me! There was a girl called Gaby on it and she was the Head Girl of the school. She was getting bullied and isolated just for succeeding and then she got this really creepy text one night that was like "I can see you sleeping". But, it turns out it was just her friends playing a joke :)

My favourite part of the programme ?
MR. DREW
I think I'm in love ^.^ He is possibly the most amazing teacher in the world. When he was giving out to students he wasn't menacing or rude - he was firm, fair and the students actually listened to him! He spoke to them like they were adults not idiotic children and he didn't have favourites.
Every teacher in the world should take a leaf out of his book!!

Anyhoo... SO LONG MY CYBER FRIENDS

At least chocolate will heal my sorrow...

*Sniff Sniff*

Well, totes unforch, we didn't win the Fun Walk in the end :'( but the amazing Ms. O'C said we'd have a party anyway ... with FOOD (waheey :D)

I suppose I should be the bigger person and congratulate Banba for winning... well done builders. I'm being as sincere as possible, I swear.

This is where I leave you...

Shhtuff

Like every other week in T.Y., this week was packed with stuff to do.
T.Y. IS NOT A DOSS/EASY/LAID-BACK YEAR! Ok??

By Friday I have to:
  • Finish Switzerland in my Geography project (not done)
  • Write a Proposal about our Mini Company to the principal (Check!)
  • Learn Fun Walk Dance (HELL YEAUH)
  • Finish watching episode 2 of "Educating Essex" (a documentary about a school shows stories about people who are being bullied and features the most legendary Year Head in the world!- Mr. Drew)
  • Go to Donegal (not exactly educational unless you count the fact that its a Gaeltacht area but its sure to be a buzz anyways ;D )
Until we meet again....
BYE.

"OOOOO FRIENDS"

Tis Anti-Bullying Week in school this week which means its basically a week when friendship and no bullying is promoted ... oh and our Deputy Head reads out friendship quotes over the intercom (  )

But the best thing about this week is that on Friday every class school is going to perform a dance in front of the rest of the school! :) Us Fódla heads have been practicing for about 3 weeks and well...our dance is pretty epic - not meaning to brag or anything :P
T.Y.'s always put the most effort in so I can't wait to see the other classes' dances! :D
We're dancing to "Absolutely Everybody" and "Everybody Dance Now" (dun, dun, dun, dun, dun) so its gonna be bleedin' MASSO BAYUUBZ.

CHOW.

RAVING IN NAAS

This post is dedicated to the one and only... Emma.
No words can describe the effect you have on me.

Moving on, its time to explain my title. We were legit raving on the bus to Naas as we headed to a Mini Company talk. Me and my raving bus buddy, Aisling, spent the ride listening to ABSO CHOOOONS.
Our Playlist:
  1. Eminem - Ass Like That
  2. DJ Cammy
  3. DJ Rankin - Raver
  4. Chamillionaire
  5. Pussycat Dolls
  6. DJ Sammy
  7. Kanye West - Golddigger
Those brought back fond memories of our lives as the kids of the noughties. :')
To be honest, the talk actually helped a lot! St. Wolstans kinda took over the whole place though :/
Some of the ideas in our year are amazing... I'm definitely gonna be buying some of the products other groups are making!! My group is me, Fiona, Aoife G, Emma D and Aisling D woop de woop :L
We basically just spend out time laughing and being bebo stunnahs.
So far our idea is both providing a low cost ipod cover customising service and also supplying a set to allow you to customise your own cover yourself.
Hopefully, we're gonna develop the idea further...like the amazing Emma had an idea to make a dent in the cover to wrap your headphones into ^.^
But, we shall see ;)

BOI GUISE

ALMOND EVERY WHERE I SMELL eeeeewwwwww

HAI GUISE,

time for a serious post ... LOLZ

Anyhoo today Laura and I (*good english high five*) had to make these Chinese sesame cookies.
I'm not lying when I tell you they were disgusting. I couldn't even swallow it. YUCK.

But, for some unfathomable reason (*double good english high five*), other people liked them o.O
So, I only have a few left now :D

Until we meet again...

...in about 30 seconds.

"I don't speak German but I can if you like OOWW"

^ Sheise by Lady Gaga in case you thought I was questionably sane...which would be true.

Well, I guess I should say hi so Heeeeeey Guuurrrl :D
Its week 5 of TY and I'm not even close to halfway finishing my geography project :/ Ms. O'C gave us the project at the start of the year and it's called A Round The World Trip. Basically, its like a make believe trip to two countries from the first world, two from the second and two from the third. So me and my partner Aoife G are going to Germany, Switzerland (hense the title), Poland, Brazil, Colombia and Haiti.
It's my job to do Switzerland first and I'm about 2 pages away from completing it... IT'S TAKING SO LOOOONG! We are given a pretend €12, 000 each for the entire trip.

Did you know that Switzerland is the only country with a square flag?

Anyhoo...

The Goddess Returns

So, I have no idea how long it's been since I blogged last but I'm still up there with the most frequent bloggers of our year ;) ... I'm addicted ok? Deal with it.

I'm going to try my best and keep this post in proper english - this is gonna be a challenge :/

LOLZ (oh no I've already started!)
Moving on from my english mistake above, a lot of things have happened since I blogged last!

We started to practice our dance and theme for our Fun Walk which is next week and so far... its looking pretty AMAZING! Not that I'm bragging or anything...
So yeah the Fun Walk is basically where our whole school walks around the town at the end of Anti-Bullying Week in our school. We used to dress up and stuff so it's not as good as it was but still a bitta buzz and bant ;)

We experience yet another epic Thursday (I think I'm obsessed with a day of the week :/ ). Photography was especially good cause we had to take pictures of a Cookie Monster teddy bear looking drunk. It was hilarious :L

And, the cast for the school musical - "The Sound of Music"- were announced :D
Unsurprisingly I got Maria but I decided to pull out and give Leah a chance cause I'm SUCH a good person...
Ok, that's a lie but I'm proud to say that A LOT of TY's got really big roles so well done everyone :D

Seeing as I have the worst memory of anyone I know, that all I think has happened but sure you never know.

Until we meet again, my love.

what?

So I'm guessing I'm now African or something...

To explain that title : today in Music (*rave*) with Ms. G we learned an African Tribal Song :D and well, in all honesty, we totes rocked it lioke ! :P

The...lyrics?...that me, Fiona, Aoife G and Aoife O'B had to sing went sorta like "A na no ni o la no UM" !

As much as I'd like to be African, I'm pretty sure that after today I have no hope in hell of becoming something other than a pasty white, freckled, irish person.

Buzz and three quarters wih me besto Emz xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

WELL, today in IT, me and Emma-bayuubz, did a joint post on her blog:

And, might I just add, that although BTYSYE may be in my top 16 on Bebo its still A LOT of pressure! Me, Sarah and Shannon are doing our project on Why do onions make you cry and to test popular myths for preventing it. Sounds easy but it is most definitely not. Aaaaaaand the deadline is next Wednesday :O! Dun ... Dun... DUUNN

I HAVEN'T BEEN DISOWNED !

The night before we got our Junior Certificate Results, on Wednesday 14th Septemeber, I honestly thought that my parents would disown me because my results were so atrocious :/ I would have put money on getting bad results but to my surprise I did well! :o I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that sheet of paper which I had dreaded seeing earlier that day. I was absoultely ecstatic!
Overall, my whole year did really well and I'm so proud of everyone :)
I went to the 'Orchard Garden Centre' afterward with my parents and had a deserved lasagne and cookie. While also meeting half my year.
That night most of the year went to 'Time' disco and had a pretty amazing night.

But, I can now happily say... my Junior Certificate has officially ended!

Hills, laser guns, sheep, wellies and a whole lot of mud... best 2 days at Carlingford :)

Just got back from Carlingford, the cutest little town in Co. Louth, and I'm ready to collapse with the tiredness.
I woke up at 6am (so proud of myself) on Monday morning and the bus left at 7. Everyone was absolutely buzzing on the bus :) and we got there at around 9.
After dropping our bags off (filled with a lot of food and tracksuit bottoms) we were giving THE MOST attractive full body suits ever. Then we were divided in 2. Half of us went off to do group activities and the rest went to the forest and played, quite possibly, the most epic game - LASERS. Well, they were actually laser guns and we had these things in our heads which our opponents had to shoot. I honestly took it very seriously and for a second I felt as though I belonged in the army ;).  Blues won three times out of four so hard luck reds :P
Then, after a much needed helping of sausages *drool*, chips and beans, the 2 groups switched activities.
Although nothing could live up to the lasers, the group activities were pretty fun :). Except for that trek up to the field that they were being held! They included things like finding our way out of a pitch black maze which was 3 floors and crossing muddy water with 4 planks of wood. It was still fun though! Dinner was a surprisingly tasty spaghetti bolognese :P
When we were staying at Carlingford there was also a guys school from Drogheda and I guess you could say we made...friends? (oooo friiieeeennds)...with them. We spent the night all crammed into the common room together and had ourselves a little sing song :P. There was even a fire lighting! We had to leave the common room at 11.20 though and head to our rooms :(. I was really happy with my room and I really liked the people in it with me :D (we had good auld bant before we went to bed).
Next morning we started off with rock climbing and ab sailing! It was so much fun!! :D It took awhile to get used to it but it really wasn't that hard. There was about 5 different courses up the mountain... if you could even call it that :P I even did one blind folded! Then we did ab sailing and take it from me it's kinda scary walking down a mountain face backwards :/ But I'd do it again in a hearbeat :) Next was orienteering. Lets just say, my legs have never hurt so much! Hill after hill, huge muddy puddles, a confusing map and a path on the mountain which was entirely made up of sheep poo. It took so long but was still good.
When we got back we made a quick trip to Candyford - the sweet shop in the town.
But then it was time to go home and with our bags packed we hopped on the bus and said farewell to 2 pretty eventful days :'(
I don't think any of us will ever forget our Carlingford experience :)

Packing... let the fun begin -_-

Using this fancaaaay countdown timer thing - it is now 1 day and 5h hours until CARLINGFORD! *air punch*
Soooooo anyway I've just started packing and I've already given up :P I need tracksuit bottoms, old shoes, swimming stuff but most importantly... FOOD! Some of the T.Y.'s are gonna meet up in tesco on Sunday night to buy some (well a LOT) of food :). And when I say food I mean absolute junk.

I really should finish packing :/ But I'll be blogging tomorrow night when my excitement level will be way beyond normal.

BOY GOYS

J'adore la cuisine française!

Tomorrow's French class with Mme. H is going to be ... hmmm... delicious! :P
Everyone in the class is going to be making some sort of french dish. And well, I LOVE FRENCH FOOD!

Me and Niamh D are making Quiche Lorraine, and if I do say so myself, it's amaaaaaazing! ^_^

Even though they're not french, Mme. H said she'd make us Caramel Squares!
 Life = complete.

Ooh la la

Quadblogging Excitement !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=g1Svb1lkwFw

YEAH BUDDY!
I'm really looking forward to Quadblogging :)
3 other schools from USA (U-S-A! U-S-A), UK (I will not use some "posh" stereotypical joke) and somewhere else we don't know yet will be reading all of my year's blogs :O oh and commenting too!

I have a feeling this is gonna be fuuunnn!
(sorry about the over-excitement...I'm just naturally happy ok?)

Following, following and MORE following!

I never realised until today how many T.Y.'s there are!

I'm moving on to class Banba's blogs...this should take awhile

To go or not to go? That is the question...

Sam and Cliff from Celbridge Youth Café came into school today to talk about ... well the Youth Café obviously. What else did you think? :L
Which brings me to the question of whether or not go to their 'Free Night'. It sounds kinda good and they said we'd get in for free and that there would be free foooooood...need I say more?

That question will be answered soon enough, until then...
HASTA LA VISTA

Thursdays...you complete me

Well it's no surprise that I'm in an awfully cheery mood seeing as it's...THURSDAY (Thursday, gotta get down on Thursday). Anyways, my ultimate hero - Mr. Rob Love - started us out with taking pictures of our classmates. It was the epic fail of 2011 (along with my J.C. results) to say the least. Fiona, Emma, Rebekah  and myself just didn't seem to possess any photographic talent *sigh*. Awkward picture after awkward picture came out. Well, c'est la vie.
Moving on to another Pilates class filled with burning stomachs, searing legs and broken backs. But I seem to enjoy it strangely :/
Finally, dancing with the legendary Ms. O'R! After 2 weeks, myself and my class could pass as professionals :P

Oh and one more thing : Carlingford is now even closer than it was yesterday! Fancy that...

Click Follow...

Just spent about half an hour following everyone from the other T.Y. class Eriu

THATS how nice I am ;) hehehe

AAAAH HAPPINESS OVERLOAD!

http://www.carlingfordadventure.com/pages/index.asp?title=Carlingford_Adventure_Centre_-_Activities&catid=224

^ This really isn't calming my excitement down ...

Countdown to Carlingford!

Right now there is 4 days, 7 hours and 34 minutes until us T.Y.'s get on the bus to Carlingford Adventure Centre at 7 ( yes 7 ) in the morning :D

To say I'm jumping up and down with excitement would be a severe understatement...

BEING A HOT DIRECTOR!

Even though I missed out on making a delicious tiramisu in Home Ec :'( today was a "buzz".
Austin Dunne (may I say, quite the legend of a man) came into our school to do a Social Development program with each T.Y. class.
At the beginning we were put into groups and on a huge sheet of paper we had to write out what we wanted to achieve by the end of the day. If I do say so myself, my group's poster was pretty epic ;) Being the utterly witty T.Y.'s we are, our page included things like have a bitta bant and listen to some more Westlife....don't ask. It also featured some VERY artistic drawings!
Then we were separated into pairs and did all these random exercises on conversing with people, body language and listening.
This was followed by a debate on the wackiest topics :P A word to the wise: I'm quite the passionate debater.
Then came the biggest part of the day. Our whole class was divided into 4 different categories based on Hippocrates Theory of the four humours:

  1. Choleric: it basically means you like to get things done your way and you are competitive, challenging and focused among other things. The colour is red, the animal is a bull and you are a 'hot director' (leader in easier terms)
  2. Sanguine: this one is if you are bubbly and sociable and like to have a laugh. The colour is yellow, the animal is a cow and you are a 'entertainer'.
  3. Phlegmatic: if you are calm, collected and like to sort problems out, you fall into this category. Green is the colour, dog is the animal and you are the 'mediator'.
  4. Melancholic: finally, people who are quiet and like to keep to themselves to themselves are know as melancholic. The colour is blue, the animal is a cat and you would be an 'observer'.
Woah, that took a long time. Anyways... everyone has a bit of each in them but has one predominating one. I turned out to be choleric (surprise, surprise). But I just wanna say it does not mean that I'm all cocky or anything! Well....
So we were split up into our humours and given a variety of things to do which included making a solution to Santa's low toy stock problem o.O  Us bulls made a "logical" and amazing comic strip for our solution.
After,we were again divided up but this time into extroverts and introverts (loud/confident/opinionated and shy/quiet/self-conscious)  and we finished of the day with more exercises. The most important being how to shake hands properly... pretty alright in that already :L hehehe

Overall, today was reeeeeaaaally good :D and I honestly now think my class has like proper bonded with each other (waheey!!)
Also, I am proud to be a bull! *whatever sound bulls make*

Will I ever get this good at Pilates??

probably NOT! :P

One week gone already :'(

One week of TY has already been and gone :o it has been pretty hectic so far... getting to know our new classes, being sorted into options and experiencing new things (like 1920's dancing). ;D

This week was definitely a memorable and eventful one! And I'm looking forward to more weeks like it!! :)

Roll on TY!

<3

Thursday, 1 September 2011

Thursdays are now officially my favourite day of the week!

First, me and my class became addicted to blogging :o
Then we met the most epic photographer in Ireland... Rob Love! (he even has a epic name) His pictures are fantastic!
Next was pilates :/ take it from me; it's very hard to hold the plank position when you're bursting out laughing :P but it was still fun :)
To finish the day we had our first experience with 1920's dancing ^.^ The talented Ms. O'R taught us the "rock step" and the famous "Charleston"! Unforgettable day to say the least.

Naming of our blogs :/

My class and I have named our blogs kinda strangley :P we had a "bonding" (we had pretty much bonded already) class together and in it had to say a thing that we like which began with the first letter of our name... and well, I love smarties :L

TY BUDDAAY ^.^

Just started TY and after 4 days its already been amazing :) Can't wait for the rest of the year :D
